The previous meeting was held on Tuesday 10th August, 2010.
Eighteen attended this months meeting - a mixture of players and non players.
We started with a short informal 'chat' which this month consisted of
1. Eleftheria Kotzia - will be performing in Ucheldre Center, Holyhead in November and has kindly offered to hold a Masterclass/workshop the following day. Due to the interest shown, the offer (at the moment) is only open to those who are 'members' of NWGC. If, however, you are interested and are not a member, please contact us and your details will be held on a 'reserve list'.
2. Vittorio Rossi - a Classical Guitarist (performer /composer) from Italy - read our NWGC article in the March 2010 issue of Classical Guitar Magazine which prompted him to contact us. He used to live and teach guitar in Llanfairfechan, North Wales but moved back to Italy some years ago . . . however, he still has a strong emotional bond to North Wales - especially the beautiful views! He very kindly sent over a selection of his cd's and some of the music he has written over the years . . . but included in the selection was a piece entitled ''Remembering Anglesey'' - dedicated 'To Jane Sinnett' - a very special gift for NWGC (and Jane of course!!).We are pleased Vittorio has touched base with North Wales after such a long time! We hope one day he may be able to attend one of our meetings!
3. Carlo Errico - our North Wales Classical Guitar Luthier attended with a selection of his hand crafted guitars - which included his recent model made of Ash and Cedar! Jonathan Richards will be recording Carlos guitars on to a cd as a way of demonstrating the quality of Carlo's guitars. Please feel free to contact Carlo and his wife Terri for further details/viewings of his guitars (please see ''other information'' page).
4. Ebenezer Chapter - are a group of young musicians (5 to 18 years old) raising money to purchase a disused Chapel on Anglesey in order for them to use it as a base to learn, practise, perform and record music! They are performing at Y Galeri, Caernarfon this month . . .please see 'events' page for details.
5. Sweaty Palms - was a topic of discussion last month! Jane mentioned using a small amount of talc, someone else uses antiperspirant . . .this month someone else bought in some 'white powder' used by rock climbers (which at the moment I can't remember the name of!!!) and can also be used for medicinal purposes!!! Some players tried it out . . . initially when rubbed into your hands it left a 'sticky residue' - but when 'rinsed off' it did seem to help . . . . . perhaps I should leave you to guess what the name of this stuff is - far more interesting than letting you in on the secret!!!!
Following our discussion, we split into our various groups . . ensemble, duos, solos, readers, listeners, drinkers . . . .and so on, until 9.15pm when we reassembled for the opportunity to 'perform' infront of the whole group.
First up were 'The 8 Ensemblers' this was followed by a duet and a couple of soloists - a mixture of various styles was performed!
The evening ended at 10.45pm.
Look forward to seeing you/ hearing you next month!!
